I'm trying to fix this older Toshiba laptop, and it's giving me a hell of a struggle. The issueWhile in the control panel it shows a wifi adapter, it will not notice any networks.
Running the diagnosis says that you need to turn on the wireless switch. On this laptop there's a dedicated button for it and a function key. Hitting the function key does nothing, and the dedicated key will glow brightly for a few seconds before turning back off.
In the Win10 Settings, there's a page for wifi with a switch. That swtich is stuck to off, trying to change it makes it go instantly back to off. This laptop can connect to the internet just fine over wired connection. What I've done so farI went into Device Manager and confirmed that the wireless card (Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN) has an up to date driver.
I then downloaded the intel driver update utility tool. The only update it had was 'Intel Chipset Device Software (INF UPdate Utility - EXE Only)'. I downloads but fails to install, saying 'Unknown error'. Thankfully there's an option to view log files.
Here they are in pastebinNear then end of two and three, error codes 1708, 1709, and 1725 are seen. Googling those, they are apparently related to some non-critical part of the driver update. Maybe those other forums were saying the entire chipset update is not important? Can anyone point me in the right direction to fixing this laptop?Thank you.
